Cameron Smith Wants LIV to Live on but ‘100%’ Would Return to PGA Tour
Smith says LIV Golf should continue as 115,000 fans attended its Adelaide event, but he would return to the PGA Tour if the league folds.
On Tuesday, golfer Cameron Smith told reporters in Bedminster, N.J., that he would "100 percent" return to the PGA Tour if LIV Golf folds, though he remains hopeful the league will survive.
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund announced in April that it will cease financial support of LIV Golf after this season, casting uncertainty over the league's long-term viability.
Reports suggest the LIV Golf Team Championship scheduled for late August in Michigan may face cancellation amid financial troubles, though players have reportedly been told to prepare as if the event remains on schedule.
Smith emphasized his desire for the league to succeed, stating, "The team that we've got, I feel like we make each other better," while noting LIV Golf has improved Australian golf.
Currently contracted through the end of next year, Smith confirmed he has made no effort to seek other opportunities, expecting to renegotiate and continue with LIV Golf if it persists.
