Worcester, Glasgow and Belfast Are the Cities Where Houses Sell the Fastest
Alto said Glasgow homes are agreed in as little as 11 days, far faster than the UK average of 30 days.
Glasgow homes are selling in just 11 days, the fastest pace in the UK, according to new data from property software provider Alto. Figures show sales in the Scottish city are agreed significantly faster than the 30-day national average.
Strong demand and a chronic undersupply of property at accessible price points drive the market, according to Mark Adams, managing partner of G&S Properties. Alto CEO Riccardo Iannucci-Dawson noted that local agents successfully price homes for what buyers will pay from day one.
Wakefield remains the slowest city, spending 63 days on the market compared to the 30-day UK average. Data shows Lanarkshire and West Lothian mirror Glasgow's speed, with both recording a median of 11 days.
Flats and apartments across the country are taking longer to sell, with average times increasing 34 per cent to 39 days. Conversely, terraced and semi-detached homes in Glasgow consistently agree sales in 12 days.
To avoid discounting over three months, sellers should set prices correctly on day one, advises Riccardo Iannucci-Dawson. He warned that homes priced for expectations from 18 months ago struggle to move, particularly flats.
