Girl, 14, Found Dead in Park Had 'Multiple Stab Wounds'
Gwent Police said a 14-year-old boy has been charged, and nearly £20,000 has been raised in her memory.
On Monday, June 22, 14-year-old Lilly Jones was discovered dead in Duffryn Park, Blaina, two days after being reported missing from her home on June 20.
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with her murder and appeared at Cardiff Crown Court, where a trial date was set for November 23 with an estimated four-week duration.
Senior coroner Caroline Saunders formally opened the inquest, recording the provisional cause of death as "multiple stab wounds to the neck and trunk" based on Dr Richard Jones's post-mortem examination.
Brynmawr Foundation School remembered Lilly for her "kindness, warmth, and bubbly personality," while the community has raised nearly £20,000 in her memory since her body was found.
Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas of Gwent Police urged the public to consider how online comments affect the investigation, as officers continue seeking CCTV footage to assist enquiries.
