Philadelphia Girl Missing Since Oct. 26 Found Dead in Trunk of Vehicle in New Jersey, 1 in Custody: Sources
One person is being interviewed after the 10-year-old’s body was found in a vehicle, and officials have not disclosed a cause of death.
On Thursday, November 5, 2026, authorities discovered the body of missing 10-year-old Jalayshia Alford inside a car trunk at the Stonington Court Apartments in Lindenwold, New Jersey, ending a 10-day search.
Jalayshia had been missing since October 26 after last being seen at her foster home on the 500 block of North Simpson Street, though law enforcement sources noted inconsistencies in her foster mother's account.
Homicide detectives currently have one individual in custody, as investigators previously stated that conflicting information from family members "stunted" search efforts across Philadelphia and nearby areas.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel scheduled a 5:30 p.m. press conference today to announce charges in what officials characterized as a "brutal murder."
The vehicle where the body was discovered reportedly belongs to a relative of the foster mother, following a search warrant executed at the North Simpson Street residence earlier this week.
