Giants Rule Out Injured Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds for Their Game at the Texans
The Giants will be without two defensive starters after Tremaine Edmunds and Greg Newsome were ruled out, leaving more depth questions against Houston.
The New York Giants ruled out linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and cornerback Greg Newsome for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, removing two defensive starters from the lineup.
Edmunds did not practice all week with a shoulder injury, while Newsome remains sidelined after suffering a concussion during the Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Signed to a 3-year, $36 million contract in March, Edmunds leads the Giants with 50 tackles; Newsome joined on a 1-year, $8 million deal as a 2021 first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns.
Nic Jones will replace Newsome as the slot corner, while The Athletic reported Friday that Edmunds' injury is season-ending due to a torn chest muscle.
Despite holding a 3-2-1 record and first place in the NFC East, New York faces multiple questionable players including offensive tackles Jermaine Eluemunor and Marcus Mbow ahead of the Houston matchup.
