German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to establish direct contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time in almost two years, German daily Die Zeit reported, citing reliable sources close to the government. The telephone conversation is planned to take place before the G20 summit in Brazil in November. However, the call has not yet been formally requested, writes the Russian-language branch of Deutsche Welle.
