Georgia catcher Daniel Jackson wins Dick Howser Trophy as national player of the year
Jackson led the nation with 31 home runs and 86 RBIs, becoming the fifth Division I player ever with 25 homers and 25 steals.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association awarded Georgia Bulldogs catcher Daniel Jackson the Dick Howser Trophy as college baseball's player of the year in Omaha, Nebraska.
The catcher from Sandy Springs batted.396 with 31 home runs and 86 RBIs, leading or ranking in the top five of nearly every major offensive statistical category during the season.
Jackson became emotional while thanking his family after accepting the award, crediting his father, stepmom Brandi, and sister Alex for their sacrifices and unwavering support throughout his college career.
The NCBWA also honored Texas freshman Sam Cozart as Stopper of the Year for relief pitching excellence, while West Virginia's Steve Sabins received the national coach of the year award.
Jackson is the second Georgia player in three years to win the honor, following Charlie Condon in 2024, and marks the fifth recipient in six years from the Southeastern Conference.
