After an investigation by the U.S. federal authorities, former Republican deputy George Santos, the son of Brazilian, was fined by the U.S. government at $35,000 (about R$178,000) for using privileged information to place bets on his presence or not in President Donald Trump's traditional state of the Union speech at the end of February. The fine comes just over a year after he was sentenced to seven years in prison for fraud and identity theft.
