The 66-year-old childcare worker arrested for serious sex offenses is identified as former council member Jan Bouwma. He served on the Almere city council for the Socialist Party (SP) between 2006 and 2010. From 2022 to 2025, he represented 50PLUS. Bouwma is currently in pre-trial detention.

Jan B., 66, who is suspected of raping a 2-year-old girl at a Partou daycare center in the city, worked as a city councilor for two political parties in Almere.
