Gatineau police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Hull apartment
Police say a 34-year-old man killed his 30-year-old partner before taking his own life, and more than 20 residents were displaced.
Gatineau Police responded to a welfare check on Laurier Street in the Hull sector shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday, discovering two individuals dead in a fourth-floor apartment in an apparent murder-suicide.
When authorities arrived, they discovered signs of a fire inside the unit, prompting assistance from the Gatineau Fire Department to investigate the scene.
Investigators determined a man allegedly killed his 30-year-old partner before taking his own life; forensic identification technicians later secured the area to examine the scene.
