Fury-Joshua showdown sells out in an hour as demand surges, say media reports
More than 500,000 fans joined the online queue as about 80,000 tickets sold out, underscoring demand for the all-British heavyweight bout.
On Friday, Oct 9, tickets for the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua heavyweight clash at Cardiff's Principality Stadium sold out in one hour, with more than 500,000 fans joining the online queue within minutes.
Around 80,000 tickets went on sale for the bout, billed as the biggest in British boxing history, with prices ranging from $117 to $17,357 including booking fees.
Netflix will broadcast the fight globally, while spectators in Cardiff face a night stretching into Saturday morning, with Principality Stadium scheduled to remain open until 3:30 a.m. on Dec 12.
Despite the massive ticket demand, observers note that neither Fury nor Joshua occupies the position they once held in the heavyweight division, both now considered faded former champions.
Turki Alalshikh, the Saudi backer, initially hoped to stage the fight at New York's Madison Square Garden before moving the match to Cardiff to headline the Dec card.
Fighting between Fury and Joshua causes a great deal of excitement among boxing fans, who at one point bought out all the tickets to the upcoming show.
