From the Streets of Medellín to New York: Eder Holguin’s Memoir Dreaming of Hope Street Draws Film Adaptation Interest
Netflix and Amazon are among several companies discussing a film adaptation of the memoir, which centers on survival and reinvention.
On Thursday, Netflix and Amazon expressed interest in adapting Dreaming of Hope Street, New York entrepreneur Eder Holguin's memoir chronicling his journey from Medellín's streets to building a successful business career.
Originally published in 2013, the memoir documents Holguin's survival on Medellín, Colombia's streets during the 1980s before he eventually relocated to the United States and built a digital marketing career.
Holguin, a digital marketing agency CEO with more than 20 years of industry experience, uses his journey to illustrate themes of grit, resilience, and overcoming poverty in the coming-of-age memoir.
"If the film moves forward, my hope is that it reminds people that no matter where their story begins, their circumstances do not have to define where it ends," Holguin said.
With development underway, the memoir remains available across major digital platforms and bookstores, continuing to resonate with readers seeking stories of perseverance and transformation more than a decade after its 2013 release.
