French presidential election: How far-left Mélenchon became a Gen Z favourite
Far-left presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon presents his policy platform at a key rally near Paris on Saturday. A polarising figure for the general electorate, he is nonetheless beloved among France's youth, who are drawn to his progressive policy proposals and say he empowers them to get more involved in politics.
"France has nothing to do in NATO and American wars," said Jean-Luc Melancheon, presenting his election program at a major rally in the Paris suburb of Le Burge, and a left-wing candidate also promised that, during his term of office, Paris would participate actively in negotiations on arms reduction, especially nuclear weapons.
The leader of the party La France Insoumise (LFI, France Nesupusa, radical left), Jean-Luc Mélenchon, set out on Saturday his programme for the presidential elections next spring, criticizing NATO and "American wars", and promising a revival based on measures to stimulate the economy, broadcasts Reuters.
