A viral video showing antisemitic harassment of a 7-year-old Jewish boy at Charles de Gaulle Airport sparked an investigation as attacks in France have sharply increased, Jewish groups said.
- Early this week, the SwordOfSalomon account posted footage viewed more than 440,000 times, claiming it was filmed at Paris's Charles de Gaulle Airport on June 25, showing an unidentified man taking a toy from a young boy.
- The account said the man targeted two Jewish French children, one aged 7, and Yonathan Arfi, president of CRIF, called it `yet another illustration of the climate of anti-Semitism that has prevailed in Europe` since October 7, 2023.
- The unidentified man taunts the young boy, asking `Are you gonna free Palestine, bro?` and threatening `If you don't free them, I'll snatch your hat off, bro,` while telling him in broken French to `dance, cachou.`
- The Bobigny public prosecutor's office has opened an inquiry into hate-motivated violence, and Groupe ADP said it is working closely with state services and the Chief Rabbi, adding no compromise on anti-Semitism.
- Amid wider regional violence that has left tens of thousands dead, an unnamed observer said he was struck by `the unbridled, uninhibited nature of the anti-Semitism`.
