Former Thames Valley Officer Nicholas Peel Jailed 9 Years for Rapes

- On Monday, April 13, former Thames Valley Police constable Nicholas Peel was sentenced to nine years in prison at Winchester Crown Court for four counts of rape and one count of attempted rape.
- A jury at Salisbury Crown Court found Peel guilty on Friday, March 6, for crimes committed between 2015 and 2020 against a woman known to him whom he repeatedly denied assaulting.
- Peel served from November 1997 until retiring in December 2024, but was struck off last year for gross misconduct involving unauthorized access to police radio channels and systems.
- Beyond imprisonment, the court imposed a 10-year restraining order prohibiting Peel from contacting the victim and mandated his indefinite registration on the Sex Offender's Register.
- Investigating officer Det Con Jo Newbery of Central CID praised the victim's courage, urging sexual assault victims to report incidents even if not 100 per cent sure, as support is available.
