Former River City actor Iain Robertson found guilty of rape
Jurors found the former River City star guilty on five charges after hearing testimony from multiple women, and he was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
River City actor Iain Robertson was found guilty of five charges following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow on June 23, 2026.
A former Bafta winner, Robertson faced accusations spanning 2004 to 2020; BBC Scotland removed him from the soap when the crimes came to light.
Evidence included a 2007 Lake District assault and abusive behavior toward multiple women; Robertson admitted he was "no angel" but insisted he remained innocent of the criminal charges.
Lady Drummond remanded Robertson in custody, stating, "You have been convicted of a number of offences and you will be remanded meantime," and placed him on the sex offenders list.
The Govan-born star faces a lengthy jail term when he returns to the dock next month in Edinburgh for sentencing, as the court adjourned to await background reports.
