Former Hunter Valley mine site to be transformed into tourist attraction for motor racing enthusiasts

The first sod was turned on Tuesday for the $95-million Black Rock Motor Resort at the former Rhondda Colliery at Wakefield in Lake Macquarie. The tourist facility will include a 5.25-kilometre driving track, holiday villas, a go-kart course, driver training and adventure tourism. 450 jobs will be created during the construction phase of the motorsport park and more than 200 when the facility was operational.
