Brooklyn Woman Charged with Terroristic Threats After Targeting Jewish Students at NYC High School
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, AUG 10 – Iman Abdul faces terroristic threat and harassment charges after posting a social media threat against a Brooklyn high school with nearly 1,000 students, many of whom are Jewish, officials said.
- On Friday, Iman Abdul, a former youth organizer for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, was arrested in Brooklyn after urging her 25,000 followers to ‘attack’ Leon M. Goldstein High School because Jewish students attend it.
- On Thursday, Abdul used her Instagram account to share a Google Maps screenshot of Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences with a caption targeting Jewish students.
- StopAntisemitism flagged Abdul’s post, which drew over 500,000 views, and urged prosecution, authorities said.
- The NYPD took Abdul into custody Friday at her Brooklyn home, charging her with making a terroristic threat and other crimes, authorities said.
- Advocates warn the case underscores antisemitism within the far-left flank of the Democratic Party, amid hate crimes reaching 62% of incidents in early 2025, authorities said.
