Florida woman posing as bank worker had $3,200 hidden in 'private ATM' at jail
Deputies said Moniquie Love Turnbull hid $3,200 in a body cavity during booking after posing as a bank worker and targeting an older resident.
- On Monday, Martin County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Moniquie Love Turnbull, 31, on charges including scheme to defraud targeting a resident 60 years or older who she allegedly posed as a bank representative to scam.
- According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, Turnbull approached two residents, falsely claiming their debit cards were compromised and needed to be turned in for replacement. One victim lost $3,180.
- "The victim notices pretty quick that not long after the suspect left, there's $3,180 now missing from her account," Budensiek said. The stolen funds represented the victim's rent money.
- During intake at the Martin County Jail, correctional staff discovered $3,200 in cash concealed inside Turnbull's body cavity. Officials added a charge of introducing contraband into a corrections facility.
- Turnbull is being held on a $500,000 bond. The sheriff's office urges residents to call 911 immediately if anyone claiming to be from a bank requests cash or valuables.
