Florida man becomes world's youngest professor at age 18, breaking 305

  • In August, Nathan Thomas became the world's youngest-ever male professor at 18 years and 346 days old, teaching at Miami Dade College, according to Guinness World Records.
  • Enrolling in Miami Dade College at 10 years old, Thomas transferred to Florida International University at 14, earning bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering with honors.
  • Previously held by teenager Colin Maclaurin, the record stood for 306 years; Thomas was also 16 days younger than Alia Sabur, the youngest female professor at 18 years and 362 days old in 2008.
  • Teaching COP 2270: C for Engineers, Thomas noted his favorite part is watching students experience the material "click" for them, almost like reliving that feeling through someone else.
  • Currently enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law, Thomas continues teaching online courses while pursuing his juris doctor degree, planning to graduate in 2028.
