Florida files official lawsuit against Roblox, accuses company of failing to protect minors

  • On Dec. 11, 2025, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a 76-page lawsuit in the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court alleging Roblox exposed children to sexual predators and deceived parents about platform safety.
  • Uthmeier says Roblox pursued an `aging up` strategy to attract older, higher-spending users, prioritizing growth and revenue over child safety, the complaint alleges.
  • Investigators found that child account ages 7, 8 and 10 accessed thousands of games without parental approval, and predators used Robux to bribe for explicit photos, luring children to Discord and Snapchat.
  • Florida is seeking civil penalties and a court order to require Roblox to implement real age verification, limit adult contact, and tighten screening after criminal subpoenas and arrests in Flagler, Ocala and Palm Springs.
  • The company points to recent safety tools and reports and says `This lawsuit fundamentally misrepresents how Roblox works`, citing 1,200 reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and recent facial age-check tools plus open-source AI to detect predatory language.
