GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — Heavy overnight rain caused widespread flash flooding Thursday across Gallia and Meigs counties in Ohio and Mason County in West Virginia, forcing emergency crews to conduct multiple water rescues and evacuate residents from flooded homes.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for Northern Mason County at 8:01 a.m. Sept. 10, 2026. The warning also includes West Central Jackson County, and Central Gallia and Southern Meigs Counties in Ohio. The Flash Flood Warning will remain in effect until 11 a.m.
