Five charged with murder after body found in park
On Wednesday, police arrested five people, including four 17-year-old boys and a 23-year-old Truganina man, charging them with murder, kidnapping, aggravated home invasion, and criminal damage by fire. An 18-year-old Point Cook man was charged with assisting offenders and criminal damage by fire.
Police allege the group broke into Longordo's South Morang home on May 15, dragging him into a vehicle before dumping his body near a Tarneit playground. Longordo, 30, was a relative of a former Mongols motorcycle gang chapter president.
Investigators executed eight search warrants across Melbourne's west on Wednesday morning. Police allege the dark-coloured Mazda used in the kidnapping was set alight on Mt Mary Road in Eynesbury, nearly 60 kilometres away.
The 23-year-old man and 18-year-old from Point Cook were remanded in custody to appear at the Magistrates Court on Thursday morning. The four 17-year-old boys will face a Children's Court.
Detective Inspector Dean Thomas from the Homicide Squad confirmed the attack was targeted. Police urge anyone with information or vision of the incidents to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
