Five Hospitalized After Suspected Stolen Car Crashes During Police Chase in Ilford
Police said 10 people were injured and five remain in hospital with serious injuries after the stolen vehicle failed to stop and crashed.
On Saturday, May 16, at 12:30am, patrolling officers pursued a 'nicked' vehicle that failed to stop, resulting in a collision at the junction of Barley Lane and High Road in Ilford.
Following the collision, police arrested the driver—a woman in her 20s—and her four passengers on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft, and being in a stolen vehicle.
London Ambulance Service paramedics treated ten patients at the scene and took nine to hospital, where five people aged between 14 and 46 remain with serious injuries.
High Road remains closed in both directions between Goodmayes Road and Eccleston Crescent as investigations continue, with police requesting anyone with information contact them on 101.
Emergency response teams, including London's Air Ambulance and the Hazardous Areas Response Team , attended the scene to treat those involved in the multi-vehicle collision with a moped and second car.
