First Nations Bank Gets $15M Investment From Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation
The $15-million deal makes the Nation one of the bank’s largest shareholders and completes a $50-million capital raise, officials said.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation announced a $15-million investment in First Nations Bank, acquiring a 10 per cent ownership stake in the institution.
This investment completes a $50-million capital raise for First Nations Bank, which remains the only Indigenous-owned chartered bank in Canada.
Operating 22 branches, the bank manages more than $1.6 billion in assets, while its subsidiary FNB Trust holds $5.57 billion in assets under administration.
Chief Margaret Sault of the Mississaugas said the deal offers a chance to "build long-term wealth" with a partner that understands the community's "needs and aspirations."
Bank CEO Bill Lomax said the investment strengthens the founding vision, positioning the institution to pursue significant opportunities for Indigenous business and economic development across Canada.
