Fire Spray Extinguisher Canisters Recalled over Potential Rupture and Fire Risk
Nine incidents were reported, and consumers are urged to replace the canisters and use free replacement instructions from Prepared Hero.
Prepared Hero is recalling about 31,000 fire spray canisters that can degrade over time, causing potential rupture or explosion hazards.
Nine cases of cans exploding or deteriorating have been reported; there have been no reported injuries so far.
The affected batch is clearly marked with '09/2024' on the base and was sold on Amazon and the Prepared Hero website between October 2024 and January 2026.
Consumers will be asked to "place their fire spray canister in a box, label the box 'RECALLED', and bring it to a municipal household hazardous waste collection center to receive a free replacement," the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
Anyone possessing the product is urged to replace it immediately, as the Consumer Product Safety Commission notes that canisters should not be thrown in general trash or recycling due to pressurization risks.
