1 Dead, 4 Hospitalized After Fire at Duncan Apartment Traps Residents on Balconies

- Firefighters erected ladders to rescue residents trapped on balconies and in hallways filled with smoke. BCEHS Paramedic spokesperson Brian Twaites confirmed four people were transported to hospital in stable condition.
- Duncan Mayor Michelle Staples said the Fishbowl Cafe opened to host emergency services, while Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Kelly Greene offered an additional 10 days of support for displaced residents.
- The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating the two deaths, and Spriggs noted the fire's cause at the building on Government Street remains under investigation.
