Wastewater treatment facility progress
The Algona City Council received an update in December about construction progress at the wastewater treatment facility. This historic and complex project is aimed at meeting the new standards of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), replacing aging equipment and increasing the flow and loading capacity of the plant.
A 10-year bilateral Canada-Manitoba agreement was announced in early March 2025, which includes $209.8 million under the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund (CILF) and was announced as part of Budget 2024. The funds will be used more specifically to improve or enable the construction of infrastructure related to drinking water, wastewater and solid waste.
