Accused of having recruited, isolated and physically exhausted young people in fragile situations, Father Bernard was given a six-month suspended prison sentence in Privas on Tuesday 24 March. The Congregation of the Missionary Family of Notre-Dame was also sentenced to 50,000 euros in fine. Both announced to appeal.
The Privas Correctional Court issued its decision on Tuesday, March 24, early in the afternoon. Father Bernard, head of a religious congregation, was tried last January for "abuse of weakness", the alleged acts were committed between 2015 and 2020. The religious was sentenced to 6 months in prison with a suspended sentence.
On Tuesday 24 March, the Prison Court of Privas (Ardèche) sentenced the Missionary Family of Notre-Dame (FMND) to €50,000 in fine for abuse of weakness. Father Bernard, former superior of the ardèche congregation, was sentenced to six months' suspended imprisonment. Their lawyer announced that he would appeal.
