5 Commissions Drama About Relationship Between Nicola Sturgeon and Peter Murrell
The 90-minute one-off will draw on Police Scotland evidence and interviews as Murrell serves a prison sentence for embezzling more than £400,000.
Channel 5 commissioned a 90-minute factual drama titled 'To Nicola, Love Peter,' chronicling how former Scottish National Party chief executive Peter Murrell embezzled more than £400,000 from the party over a 12-year period.
Murrell pled guilty to embezzling party funds earlier this year and was sentenced to more than five years in prison for his crimes as the former SNP chief executive.
Court documents revealed Murrell purchased a £124,550 motorhome and £2,600 salt and pepper grinders using party funds, while Sturgeon maintained she was unaware of his actions until his guilty plea.
Speaking at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe earlier this month, Sturgeon said she 'feels like a mug' for caring about her estranged husband and confirmed she will not visit him in prison.
Bafta-Nominated director Misha Manson-Smith and writer Lucy Brydon are leading the production at Wonderhood Studios, with the drama expected to air on Channel 5 in 2027.
