Nintendo Switch 2’s gameless Game-Key cards are going to be very common

  • Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 earlier this month, and pre-orders highlighted details about physical releases.
  • These physical game cards, called Game-Key Cards, require an internet download to access the full game.
  • Of 13 third-party physical titles listed for pre-order in Japan, 11 are Game-Key Cards.
  • Nintendo states the card is your “key” to downloading the full game via the internet.
  • A future shutdown of the online store would render these game cartridges useless.
