Pierce Brosnan Breaks Silence with Frank Verdict on James Bond Frontrunner
Brosnan praises Turner’s presence and says other actors in the 007 race have longevity and strong screen appeal.
Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan endorsed Callum Turner as a strong contender for the iconic spy role, telling Vanity Fair he is "eagerly" awaiting the next casting announcement.
The race to replace the previous Bond actor has intensified, with Turner and Slow Horses star Jack Lowden emerging as frontrunners; prediction markets recently showed Turner surging ahead.
Director Denis Villeneuve will helm the upcoming 26th Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios, a choice Brosnan described as transformative: "I think we are going to be blown away."
Brosnan and Turner previously worked together on the 2017 film The Only Living Boy in New York; Brosnan now considers himself merely an "audience member" watching the current search.
While discussing the franchise, Brosnan acknowledged "conflict" regarding the series, referencing Helen Mirren's past criticism of sexism while maintaining room for creative interpretation within Bond creator Ian Fleming's world.
