The European Union has added to Nepal's support after one of the worst floods in recent decades. A first flight of the EU's humanitarian air bridge arrived in Nepal on Friday with 82 tons of essential materials, and the European Commission has allocated another 500,000 euros for the response to the crisis.
The plane that arrived on the morning of Friday contained health, education, food, sanitation and protection materials. In addition to the plane, the EU made €500,000 available to help local teams.

The European Commission is making an additional half a million euros available for aid to Nepal, it announced on Friday. The extra money will be added to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent's Emergency Disaster Relief Fund. From there, teams working locally can help those affected with items that are urgently needed.
