Before the EU Competitiveness Summit, Commission President Ursula of the Leyen calls for more reforms. In case of an emergency, some states should push ahead. In doing so, she responds to an initiative by the Vice-Chancellor.
The Prime Ministers of Slovakia and the Czech Republic, Robert Fico and Andrej Babiš, and Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, discussed the priorities they believe the EU should focus on at a meeting in Bratislava today. In a statement adopted ahead of an informal meeting of EU leaders, they stressed competitiveness and the importance of reducing energy prices.
High electricity prices and possible steps to reduce them should be discussed at Thursday's informal summit of the European Union. The European bloc will only save competitiveness and affordable energy, which will enable the development of industry. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico and Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker agreed on this at a meeting in Bratislava on Tuesday.
