Nothing Upgrades Voice-to-Text with AI-Powered 'Essential Voice'
The tool cleans filler words, translates more than 100 languages and formats messages across apps, Nothing said.
- On Thursday, smartphone brand Nothing launched Essential Voice, an AI-powered voice-to-text tool designed to streamline dictation by removing filler words like "um" and "ah."
- The average person types 36 words a minute but can speak four times faster, positioning Nothing alongside competitors like Superwhisper and Wispr Flow in the growing dictation app market.
- Essential Voice supports 100+ languages and includes Personal Mappings, allowing users to create shortcuts for phrases and addresses, while functioning across apps like Gmail, WhatsApp, and Google Keep.
- Nothing confirmed the feature rolls out to the Nothing Phone 3 and Nothing Phone 4a Pro next week, with support for the Nothing Phone 4a arriving in early May via the Essential Key.
- While the feature remains exclusive to Nothing hardware, the company plans app-based custom styling for different tones later; Essential Voice shows no indication of expanding to other Android devices, unlike Nothing's separate Warp service.
