Erykah Badu & Alchemist Release New Album ‘Before The World Blows: The Abi & Alan Experiment’: Listen

- On Wednesday, Erykah Badu hosted an intimate listening party at Shyboy Hifi to premiere "Before the World Blows," her first album since 2010. The 16-track collaborative project with The Alchemist officially releases today, August 28.
- Four years ago, Badu initiated the partnership after expressing interest in rapping over an instrumental from Mobb Deep's 1999 album "Murda Muzik." Alchemist provided beats not originally intended for this specific project.
- Contributing artists include Thundercat, Westside Gunn, Joi, DRAM, Steve Lacy, Kamasi Washington, and Earl Sweatshirt, with mixing and percussion work from DJ Quik and Young Guru.
- Fans can pre-order the album now through Control Freaq Records on Bandcamp. The intro track "Echos" immerses listeners in ethereal blends of psychedelic funk, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop.
- Next month in September, the duo is scheduled to perform live at Forest Hills Stadium. This upcoming show builds momentum following their previous tour experience last year.
