Italy is preparing to withdraw its troops near Erbil, northern Iraq, following an attack against an Italian military base there, Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto said for the daily edition of Corriere della Sera.
The Italians would avoid further confrontation.
On the night of Wednesday 11 to Thursday 12 March, a drone crashed on an Italian army base in Erbil, Iraq. Although there were no casualties, this event seems to have prompted the Transalpine government to organize the evacuation of its forces from the area and perhaps other countries, such as Lebanon.
