Enzo Maresca to decide on Man City leadership group at end of transfer window
Manager Enzo Maresca will delay finalizing Manchester City's leadership group until the transfer window closes, citing uncertainty regarding the squad's final composition.
Bernardo Silva's departure and potential Barcelona interest in Rodri have depleted the leadership ranks, leaving only Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland from the previous group.
Maresca questioned whether Haaland suits the captaincy because he prefers to call the skipper over during goal celebrations, which his striker typically leads.
Portugal defender Dias currently holds the advantage for the armband, while Maresca plans to select two additional leaders once the transfer window concludes.
Other candidates for the leadership group include Marc Guehi, Josko Gvardiol, and Phil Foden, while teenager Ryan McAidoo will remain at Manchester City for development.
