Enbridge Reports $1.29B Third-Quarter Profit, up From $682M a Year Ago
Higher income from gas transmission and storage lifted adjusted core profit as Enbridge also expanded its U.S. crude oil footprint.
On Friday, Enbridge Inc. reported its third-quarter profit nearly doubled to $1.29 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with $682 million a year earlier.
Higher income from natural gas businesses drove the increase, with Enbridge reporting adjusted core profit of $1.43 billion from its transmission unit, up from $1.26 billion.
Adjusted core profit from the gas distribution and storage unit rose to $665 million from $560 million, while adjusted per-share earnings reached 49 cents.
Enbridge recently closed its purchase of the Salt Creek Midstream crude oil gathering business in Texas and announced a deal to acquire Tallgrass Energy's crude oil business in the United States.
Increasing natural gas consumption and power infrastructure investments for data centers have bolstered growth opportunities for Enbridge, whose regulated and contracted assets provide stable earnings.
