Eldorado Gold Says First Copper Concentrate Produced at McIlvenna Bay Project
The company is ramping up to 4,900 tonnes per day and expects commercial production in the third quarter, CEO George Burns said.
In VANCOUVER, The Canadian Press reports that Eldorado Gold Corp. produced the first copper concentrate at the McIlvenna Bay project in Saskatchewan on Sunday.
The company acquired Foran Mining Corp. earlier this year, adding the McIlvenna Bay project after it was designated one of the government's first five fast-track projects last year.
Eldorado President George Burns noted that McIlvenna Bay adds substantial copper and zinc production, with operations ramping toward a nameplate capacity of 4,900 tonnes per day.
During the ramp-up period, the company will optimize the flotation circuit and reagent addition performance while completing the paste plant and underground infrastructure.
Eldorado Gold expects to achieve commercial production in the third quarter of this year, trading on the TSX as ELD.
