Jack White Reveals Death of "Amazing" Brother Edward Gillis
The Third Man Pressing plant manager was remembered by family and colleagues for his leadership and close ties to Detroit's music scene.
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, Detroit rocker Jack White announced the death of his older brother, Edward "Eddie" Gillis, who died at 60 after a "tough battle against cancer."
Gillis managed Third Man Pressing for 10 years, overseeing the production of "hundreds of thousands" of records for other artists while creating vinyl scrap sculptures.
Before his music industry tenure, Gillis worked as an acclaimed pastry chef at the Ritz-Carlton and Beaumont Hospital; he is survived by his wife, Angie, and two children, Amelia and Garrett.
Reflecting on their musical bond, White credited his brother with teaching him to string a guitar, stating, "He taught me so many wonderful and simple things over the years that I'll never forget."
Ben Blackwell, Jack White's business partner and nephew, remembered Gillis's leadership, stating, "He knew how to motivate people," while White called his brother a "caring, funny and generous person that everybody loved.
