External Demand Sustains Growth of 0.8% of GDP in the Chain in the Second Quarter

GDP had an increase of 2.5% in the second quarter, when compared to the same period last year, and an increase of 0.8% compared to the first three months of the year, confirmed the National Institute of Statistics (INE) this Monday.
The INE confirms the similar growth of the Portuguese economy by 2.5%, with an acceleration in GDP in the chain of 0.8%.
According to the INE, the negative contribution of net external demand to the homologous variation of GDP fell in the second quarter, with a more intense growth of exports that more than compensated for the acceleration of imports.
Quarterly growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 0.8% was accelerated after an increase of 0.1% in the previous quarter.
The Portuguese economy grew 2.5% in the second quarter, in homologous terms, and 0.8% in chain, confirmed today the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
