The ease of online payment platforms and debit/credit cards has resulted in consumers using cash for fewer transactions overall. In 2020 and 2021, the DCPC evaluated the popularity of cash as compared with other payment methods. In 2021, 85% of consumers reported they had used cash at least once in the past 30 days, compared with 74% in 2020.
