The European Central Bank (ECB) staff committee has asked Christine Lagarde to clarify her future at the bank. In a letter sent on September 11 to members of the bank's Executive Board and which has been made public, it said that the uncertainty over how long Christine Lagarde will remain as president of the institution is creating "prolonged uncertainty" that could undermine "trust" in the ECB and complicate its internal management.
Speculations about a possible early departure were revived by the announcement of the publication of his autobiography in early 2027.
