East end of Belleville could possibly get quieter
Belleville council will decide whether or not to try and quiet things down in the far east end of the city at its meeting on Monday. City staff are recommending council apply to the Rail Safety Initiatives Fund for $200,000 to help pay the $400,000 cost of upgrading the CP rail crossings at Elmwood Drive and Mitchell Road in order to have trains stop blowing their horns at those crossings. Council meets at 4 o’clock Monday afternoon at City Hall.
