According to the minister, Portugal, like other European countries, is "used as a strategic gateway for cocaine into Europe" by transnational criminal organisations. Luís Neves says that PSP and GNR will enhance visibility and police operations in specific areas.
In the parliamentary debate on the RASI, the Minister of Internal Administration also spoke about the increase in general crime in the country, justifying the rise with the greatest operational investment of the police. "We are not only talking about more crimes, we are talking about more action by the state," he stressed.
