41-Year-Old Man Charged in Deadly NJ Turnpike Crash that Killed 4 Teens

Christopher Neff, charged with vehicular homicide, allegedly drove under the influence and wrong-way on the Turnpike, killing four teens in a crash involving a tractor-trailer, police said.

  • On Tuesday, Christopher Neff, 41, of Westminster, Colorado, was charged with four counts of aggravated manslaughter, four counts of vehicular homicide, and multiple weapons charges, court records show.
  • A Dodge pickup allegedly drove northbound in the southbound lanes and struck a Mazda SUV near milepost 1.3 in Carneys Point Township, then pushed the Mazda into a Freightliner tractor-trailer.
  • Four passengers were pronounced dead at the scene: Yaakov Kilberg, 19, and 18-year-olds Aharon Lebovits, Shlomo Cohen, and Chaim Grossman, who had recently graduated and were close friends.
  • Neff remains hospitalized and in custody after fractures to both legs and a broken arm; his next court date has not been scheduled, and investigators say additional charges may be pending.
  • Police said Neff was heavily intoxicated with blood alcohol over twice the legal limit, officials urged tips to NJSP Troop D Moorestown Station at 609-860-9000, and the tractor-trailer driver, 29, from Nova Scotia, was uninjured.
