'God Covered Us': Actor, Singer Recounts Intense Moments After Plane Skids Off Runway
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after eight people were aboard a Dassault Falcon 50 that skidded off the runway and hit a fence.
On Sunday, actor Donnie Wahlberg survived a failed takeoff at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas when his Dassault Falcon 50 aircraft overshot runway 1L and struck a perimeter fence.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident, which occurred while the plane was scheduled to fly to Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada with eight people aboard the aircraft.
In an Instagram video, Wahlberg praised the pilots, stating "These pilots saved our lives," and noted the aircraft avoided "heavy" airport equipment and vehicles before striking the perimeter fence.
The airport reported no injuries; operations were suspended at 12:50 p.m. and resumed by 2:30 p.m. following safety inspections of the runways.
Both runways 1R and 1L were reopened later on Sunday following inspections, while the Federal Aviation Administration continues investigating to determine the cause of the failed departure.
