Britain's deputy prime minister Dominic Raab denied Tuesday that the government had prioritised animals over people during the evacuation from Afghanistan earlier this year - despite claims from a whistleblower.

The whistleblower said that during one phase of the evacuation, more efforts were being made to rescue dogs from an animal shelter than to evacuate local staff who were in danger.
