'Do not eat' and 'stop using' warnings to shoppers at Asda, Tesco, Waitrose and more
UK retailers recalled food, skincare and accessories after contamination and chemical risks prompted urgent stop-use notices and refunds for shoppers.
This week, major UK retailers including Waitrose, Boots, Primark, and Simple issued urgent product safety recalls. Customers are urged to verify purchases against specific batch codes to avoid potential health and safety hazards.
On Thursday, Waitrose recalled 120g packs of Essential Pitted Black Olives due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The Food Standards Agency warned that vulnerable groups, including those over 65, face severe infection risks.
Primark and Asda recalled handbags and the 101 Dalmatians Zip Purse due to excessive phthalates. The Office for Product Safety and Standards warned these chemicals pose serious reproductive health risks to children.
Boots recalled the Love to Dream Sleep Machine over fire hazards, while Simple skincare recalled batches of Skin Micellar Cleansing Water. Simple warned products may contain bacteria causing eye inflammation in some consumers.
The FSA and OPSS continue monitoring safety standards and advise customers to stop using affected items immediately. Full refunds are available upon return to stores or through manufacturer carelines.
